Working in Public and Private Schools
As a Lead Kindergarten and First Grade Teacher, I was responsible for planning, preparing, and implementing Common Core and Georgia Performance Standards across core subjects, including Reading, Writing, Grammar, Mathematics, Critical Thinking, Science, and Social Studies. I taught in both small and large group settings, using differentiated instruction to support the academic and behavioral goals outlined in each student’s individualized education and behavior plans (IEPs and BIPs). The well-being and development of my students were always my top priority, and I worked diligently to ensure their basic needs were met in a nurturing, supportive environment.
My instructional approach emphasized not only academic growth but also moral values and character development through literature, class discussions, and meaningful assignments. I enhanced classroom engagement by incorporating peer-led activities, educational field trips, and community service projects.
In addition to curriculum development, I actively participated in professional development, collaborated with colleagues, and contributed to a culture of shared learning. My teaching practice integrated elements of Montessori theory, Applied Behavior Analysis (ABA), behavioral therapy, dyslexia education, and child grief counseling strategies.
Administrative responsibilities included submitting weekly lesson plans to the principal, distributing homework and class announcements, and maintaining consistent communication with parents via daily folders, email, and phone. I conducted regular assessments by reviewing student work, administering tiered intellectual testing, analyzing results, and adjusting instruction as needed to support student growth.
Record-keeping and documentation were essential aspects of the role. I maintained student portfolios, progress reports, and up-to-date educational records with accuracy and care. Throughout the academic year, I held conferences with families to discuss developmental milestones, address concerns, and collaboratively set future goals. We celebrated student progress and achievements as a classroom community.
Teaching in both public and private school settings strengthened my ability to manage a classroom effectively, collaborate with staff and administration, and most importantly, build strong relationships with students and their families through the power of education.
At The Intown Academy…
Intown’s vision is to be a dynamic learning community where students become lifelong learners, develop self-knowledge, and are challenged to excel.
“For your continued hard work with your kindergarten students, for working so well with your families that you are looping up with them to first grade and your exemplary support of the Intown Academy, Ms. Reishman - YOU are the March Teacher of the Month!”

At The Goddard School…
Goddard’s focus on project-based learning allows children to learn by actively engaging in a task.
Experiential learning encourages children to develop independence, confidence and initiative by exploring a subject.
The Private Kindergarten/1st Grade program prepares children for success. The fun, engaging curriculum allows children to explore and discover their interests while learning academic essentials, empowering them to find happiness in learning.
The Goddard School uses the most current, academically endorsed methods to ensure that children have fun while learning the skills they need for long-term success in school and in life. While working there, I collaborated with parents and the local community to nurture children into respectful, confident and joyful learners.
Finding a stray cat on the playground led to a week-long service project partnered with the Gwinnett County Animal Shelter.
We donated pet food, blankets, toys, and supplies to the shelter, and the cat was later adopted.
